Project Description

Building capacity in East Riding Council

On the back of a regional programme delivered across Yorkshire & Humber, Pixel Fountain were asked to deliver an away for managers in East Riding Council.

Need

The council has a strong commitment to the training of its management team, which is why we were pleased to assist in delivering the training element of an Annual Managers Conference.  The council was strengthening corporate capacity, the robustness of its future plans and introducing a new systems.

Solution

A large event – around 350 of the Council’s top managers attended the event –  pixelfountain trained them all! 5 facilitators ran 10 sessions of the Planit-YH Learning Simulation (computer-based resource management model). A prize was awarded to the winning team.

The sessions were anchored around a tailored version of the Planit-Sustainability learning simulation.

Created a good cooperative working environment.

The day was a great success. We were pleased that the Leader of the Council and Chief Executive praised Pixel Fountain and – more importantly for the people of East Riding – the team’s achievements.

All the teams scored highly, showing that they had understood the needs of the virtual community, they had collaborated well and modified their strategy as problems and opportunities emerged in the simulation.
The event built capacity and aided mainstreaming of sustainable development within the Local Authority and its partnerships.

Planit-Sustainability is an excellent resource for team working, problem solving and collaboration; it has been used with diverse audiences from front-line staff to Chief Executives.
